Advantages of a twin screw extruder
Author:admin Addtion Date:2018-03-20 View:1144
Plastic extruders are divided into twin-screw extruders and single screw extruders according to the number of screws. The difference between them is that one is a screw and one is two screws. They are all driven by an electric motor, and the power varies from screw to rod. Under normal circumstances, the output of single screw is only half of that of twin-screw. Single screw extruder is easy to design and manufacture, and the host price is relatively cheap, so it has been widely applied and suitable for extrusion processing of general materials. But single screw extruders have limitations in their applications. Mainly in the following aspects: 1. the material transportation of the single screw extruder mainly depends on the friction, so that the feeding performance is limited, and the powder, paste, glass fiber and inorganic powder are difficult to join. 2., when the head pressure is high, the countercurrent increases, and the productivity decreases. 3., the single screw extruder has little effect on the surface of the exhaust area, and the exhaust effect is poor. 4. single screw extruder is not suitable for some modification processes, such as polymer coloring and thermosetting powder processing. In order to solve the above problems, a twin screw extruder has been developed. Its extrusion system is composed of two screw and material barrel, which is meshing or non meshing, turning in the same direction or rotating with different direction. Because of the less heat produced by the friction, the more uniform shearing of the material and the higher transmission capacity of the screw, the material is under the same extrusion quantity. In the screw, the residence time is short, so it is suitable for coloring and mixing materials that will solidify or coagulate for a long time.
